Supporting your fertility, pregnancy & post-partum journey with effective nutritional therapy

Step into the Spring of your life, supported by clinically effective, evidence-based nutrition to build powerful foundations for fertility, pregnancy and beyond.

Give your body the nutritional power to perform miracles

Fertility nutrition, pregnancy nutrition and post-partum nutrition all have a single goal in mind: to build nutrient-dense foundations to power your body to perform miracles.

Using evidence-based nutritional and lifestyle interventions based on the latest research, my work as a nutritional therapist focuses on guiding women and couples into the most fruitful season of their lives by building nutritional density, supporting the nervous system through the stress and anxiety of trying to conceive, and creating a strong, female body ready for conception, pregnancy and post-partum recovery.

Pre-Conception & Fertility Nutrition Package

Across 3 months, I work with you and your partner to bring you both into the most fertile season of your lives. By testing essential nutrient status, assessing your lifestyle factors and building a fertility dietary protocol based on your unique biochemistry, we’re able to create firm foundations for fertility that give you the best chance of conceiving.

In the Fertility Package, you get:

  • Finger-prick blood tests to assess essential nutrient status and thyroid health

  • 6 nutritional therapy consultations, for you and your partner

  • Fertility dietary protocol, based on your unique requirements

  • Supplement and functional testing recommendations where necessary

It takes 3-months to affect changes in fertility (both in the egg and sperm), so the Fertility Package is conducted over a 3-month period for maximum effect.

What’s inside the Pre-Conception & Fertility Nutrition Package?

Medical & Functional Testing

To give us the most accurate data to build a personalised plan that really works for you, the Fertility Package includes two finger-prick blood tests to assess essential nutrient status (for each partner), a finger-prick blood test to assess female thyroid health, and recommendations for further functional testing if necessary.

Fertility Diet & Recipes

Once we’ve identified any hormonal imbalances or nutrient deficiencies that might be contributing to fertility challenges, I provide a fertility dietary protocol for both partners to follow. My approach is always non-restrictive wherever possible and you will receive a copy of my Cooking For Health recipe book to aid in your fertility diet plan.

Nutritional Therapy Consultations

The Fertility Package includes an initial 90-minute consultation, where we discuss your lifestyle, your goals and any health conditions you struggle with, followed by 5 follow-up appointments. I recommend splitting your follow-up appointments between you and your partner to achieve the best possible nutritional intervention.

Supplements & Support

At each of your 6 nutrition consultations, we’ll discuss your progress, what you’re struggling with, and how we can make even more impactful change in your life. I’ll also recommend tried-and-tested supplements to support your fertility journey and address hormonal imbalances.

1:1 Fertility & Women’s Health Nutrition Consultations

For individuals looking for personalised fertility support or nutritional therapy for other women’s health conditions (including PMDD, endometriosis and PCOS), 1:1 Nutritional Consultations are your opportunity to get clinically effective nutritional support tailored to your body and your needs.

Initial consultations, to get to know you, your health conditions and your goals, follow-up consultations are 60-minutes long

1:1 consultations will provide you with a better understanding of your hormonal imbalances (functional testing can be added if necessary, at extra cost) and how to use nutrition, supplements and lifestyle changes to improve your health conditions.

Hello, I’m Cara.

I’m an ardent advocate for women’s health and women’s rights. In my role as a Certified Nutritional Therapist I help women (and their partners) feel empowered, supported and knowledgeable about their fertility, pregnancy and post-partum journeys.

Based on the west coast of Scotland, but seeing patients in my virtual clinic worldwide, I take a joy-centred, non-restrictive approach to nutritional interventions so that you can live a full life on your terms.

Fertility, Pregnancy & Post-Partum Nutrition Support

  • Quite simply, because it takes 3-months for nutritional and lifestyle interventions to have an effect on your fertility. For women, an egg takes around 3 months to mature. And for men, a sperm maturation cycle is typically 2-3 months, So for my nutritional intervention to be effective and to have a tangible impact on both your bodies, I need 3 months to guide you into the spring of your life.

It’s never too soon to work with a nutritional therapist. Whether you’re preparing your body for trying to conceive in a year’s time, 3 years’ time, or you’re hoping to conceive as soon as possible, the nutritional and lifestyle interventions we work together on have an impact that deepens over time. The earlier you start giving your body the nutrients it needs, the better.

  • Nutrition is the foundation of every part of your health. While lifestyle factors matter too (and are something we also cover during the Fertility Package), there is nothing more effective than building a nutrient-dense foundation to support your body’s fertility.

80% of the couples I work with in the Fertility Package succeed in getting pregnant within a year of working together. Preconception is the most impactful time to work on improving your health, your partner’s health, and building a strong, fertile foundation for your future child.

Numerous studies show the immense power of nutritional intervention at preconception stage of a couple’s journey:

A study conducted by Foresight in 2010 looked at the impact of basic preconception care on a group of 1,568 couples. Of those couples, 37% had a history of infertility, 38% had previous miscarriages, 11% had previous therapeutic abortions, 3% had experienced still births, 15% had low birth weight babies, 2% had babies with malformations and 1% had experienced SIDS. After following a programme of preconception care, 89% of those couples had live births at an average gestational age of 38.5 weeks. No miscarriages, perinatal deaths or malformations were experienced, despite the normal expectation being 70 miscarriages and 6 malformations in a 1,568 couple sample size.

I wholeheartedly wish I could promise you a healthy baby from working together. Although I can’t make such a guarantee, what I can promise is, unlike the physical and emotional strain of fertility treatment that often leaves couples feeling worn out, the Fertility Package will leave you both feeling nourished, supported and empowered on your journey.

You’ll break free from health conditions, like digestive issues, PMS, food cravings or other chronic conditions, that have been holding you back and feel the most powerful, energised version of yourself - ready to enter the conception and pregnancy stages of your journey with confidence, supported by an experienced practitioner who is able to guide you through the endless tests, breakdown the complex world of fertility, and give you evidence-based guidance so you can flourish.

  • The foods your body needs to support fertility depend largely on your body’s unique needs. While there are some foods that are beneficial for most people on their fertility journey, your specific nutritional needs are unique to you. This is why the Fertility Nutrition package uses finger-prick blood tests to assess essential nutrient status and female thyroid health, so that I can build a dietary protocol for you that works to restore any deficiencies and create strong foundations for fertility.

  • Please visit my Chronic Health Nutrition page to learn more about nutritional support for women’s health concerns.

  • Repeated miscarriages are deeply traumatic for parents. My goal as a nutritional therapist is to support you in understanding how to best prepare your body for a live birth, through evidence-based nutritional interventions that increase your chances of success. Support for repeated miscarriages includes:

Emotional support for the trauma of repeated miscarriages, for both partners

Identifying any dietary triggers that could be related to miscarriages, such as undiagnosed coeliac disease

Reviewing all medical testing to date and recommending further tests, including in-depth functional testing, such as vaginal microbiome testing (often missed, but absolutely vital for supporting repeated miscarriage)

Deep nutritional nourishment of your body to build strong foundations to support a successful pregnancy

Nervous system support so that your body feels safe to be pregnant again

For unexplained infertility, the core goal is to move from unexplained to explained. Unexplained infertility can always be explained so through functional testing we can begin to dig deeper into the underlying causes of your conception struggles.

  • Not necessarily. If you’re planning to get pregnant in the next few months, or even the next year, it’s never too early to start building the nutritional foundations that will support your body through that process. The most important factor in a successful, healthy pregnancy is the health of the ingredients used, i.e. the quality of the egg and sperm. Fertility is a shared goal, so building those strong nutritional foundations as early as possible gives you the best possible chances of entering your conception, pregnancy and post-partum journey feeling strong, nourished and empowered.

Pregnant women exist every day of their pregnancy on the edge of human endurance. Your body quite literally performs miracles, and it’s absolutely vital that you step into that season of your life nourished and calm.

If you aren’t actively trying to conceive but want to give yourself the best chances of conceiving when you do try, the Fertility Package will focus on addressing hormonal imbalances and creating a longer-term dietary protocol with future conception in mind.

  • Everyone has foods they like and foods they don’t like. When putting together your dietary plan to tackle your chronic health conditions, I’ll take into account your dietary preferences.

My work is based on the most clinically effective intervention for your body’s needs, which is why I don’t provide support for clients following vegan diets. In my experience, vegan diets are not clinically effective for those on a fertility journey and it is therefore a clinical policy of mine that I don’t work with people on a plant-based or vegan diet.
